Pay Per Click Ad Formats

The default advertising format for your pay-per-click ads are the text ads. In addition to text ads, Google AdWords also allows you to target your pay-per-click ads using a variety of ad formats including image ads, video ads, mobile ads, local business ads and the traditional media ad formats.

Google allows you to use image and animated ads only if you enable the content network to display you pay per click ads. Image ads should be a static graphic of the product or service that you choose to advertise with your pay per click ads. These image ads can be used on either keyword or site targeted campaigns and appear on select content sites in the Google network. Site targeted image ads appear on the sites that you select as long as those sites choose to show image ads. Animated ads also appear on the content network in keyword or site targeted campaigns.

A video ad consists of a still opening image that needs to be clicked in order to begin playing the video ad. A user then clicks on the ad while the video is playing and is taken to your website. Only when a user clicks on the playing video do you incur a cost. Video ads appear on select sites in the Google content network and can be created in both, keyword and placement targeted campaigns. Keyword targeted video ads are placed on sites in the content network in the same manner as text ads. Placement targeted video ads appear on the sites that you select.

In order to create a local business ad you will first need to create a business listing on Google Maps. Local business pay-per-click ads are associated with local business listings on Google Maps and are displayed in a text only format. With Mobile Ads you can get users to connect to your mobile web page by providing the URL or a call link to your business phone. Mobile Ads are short text ads displayed when a user searches on Google from a mobile device.
